What is CASE project?

CASE (Consumer Awareness for Students in Europe) is a KA2 Erasmus+ project, granted by the European Commission. We raised a 5-country partnership (Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey) to investigate students’ habits, beliefs and attitudes towards consumption, sustainability and well-being.

We choose to call it CASE, like the one you take with you on a trip. A green case, actually: #thegreencase.

An empty green case to carry along during a journey, while we explore the lifestyles and their impact on our environment, the world we live in: its resources, its capability to sustain and feed us, its limits.

It’s a journey beginning from ourselves and our immediate surroundings with CASE1 (raising awareness on an individual basis), to connect it later on a wider horizon: the one concerning the social networks of relationships which build a society.

We need to study the multiplying effects, analyzing the trend effects promoted by the gatekeepers, the opinion leaders, which play a crucial role in shaping social attitudes: this will be CASE 2 (developing common social attitudes towards consumption).

In the end, with a bird’s-eye view, we will extend our perspective to a global level: what kind of deal is possible between our contemporary lifestyles and the planet – and its capability to regenerate and sustain itself? To what extent are we aware of our weight, of the deepness of our footprint on the planet? How much do we know about the chains of effects which bond every decision we make to the delicate equilibrium of our ecosystems?

This will be the last stop of our journey, CASE 3 (raising a global outlook to world’s limited sources), in a perspective which will lead us back from the blurry general overviews to the immediate individual cognition: what can I do, in the end?  What can we do, together?
